Mandy Moore had to say goodbye to the friend she had loved for over a decade.

The 40-year-old actress, who gave birth to her daughter in September, was mourning the passing of her fur baby Jackson on Friday.

In an emotional post alongside a carousel of photos featuring highlights from the life the rescue dog shared with Moore, the This Is Us star shared her pain with friends and fans.

‘My beautiful son. Thank you for an incredible 14+ years,” she wrote about the golden and tan German shepherd mix.

‘You were an excellent guardian (even if we said you weren’t supposed to), you weren’t very good with other animals or children but you were loving in your own way and knew how much you were loved by us all,’ he wrote.

The Tear Heals singer noted that her beloved pup is tougher than he looks.

‘You had a big bark that scared some people, but you were actually the nicest guy who was secretly afraid of his own shadow.’

‘It’s Jackie D. My sweet old man. I hope you find Joni (Moore’s dog who died in 2020) and have a giant pool where you can chase tennis balls and swim to your heart’s content. We love you forever. Thank you for choosing us. ‍‍‍‍‍’

Moore had Jackie when she started dating husband Taylor Goldsmith, 39, in 2015.

She stayed by his side as the couple built a life together following their wedding in November 2018.

The sweet pup was there when the couple welcomed sons August, named Gus, in February 2021 and Oscar ‘Ozzie’ in October 2022.

The family welcomed Louise, named Lou, in September.

The photos show Jackie posing with her human siblings, watching them intently as they sleep or trying new foods with her parents.

Moore was with Jackson when she first met her husband Taylor Goldsmith in 2015, and was by his side as the couple built a life together following their marriage in 2017.

Moore wrote that neither Jackson nor Jackie D “are very good with other animals or kids, but you love them in your own way.” Photos show her posing with her human siblings, watching them intently as they sleep or trying new foods with her parents.

“You were the perfect protector (even if we told you it wasn’t necessary),” Moore wrote of her canine companion. ‘You had a big bark that scared some people, but you were actually the gentlest man who was secretly afraid of his own shadow.’

Her friend Minka Kelly wrote: ‘Oh Mand… I’m so sorry.’ ‘She was the luckiest person to have you as her mother. What a beautiful life you gave him. Sending lots of love ‘

Moore’s This Is Us co-star Chrissy Metz expressed her sympathy for him. ‘Oh, Mandy, I’m so sorry. Sending you my love.’

“I’m so sorry for your loss… ‍‍,” actress Kimberly Williams Paisley commented.

The family adopted a Marshmallow in January after their nanny found the puppy wandering on the street, #adoptdontshop Moore announced the dog’s arrival on social media.
