VERNON COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) – Two inmates are accused of being involved in a fight at the Vernon County Jail.

According to a press release from the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, two people were arrested following an altercation that occurred at the Vernon County Jail in the city of Viroqua on the night of October 26, 2024.

The press release states that around 8:30 p.m., corrections officers responded to a physical attack in one of the prison cells.

Staff assisted the victim. The victim was taken by ambulance to Vernon Memorial Medical Center.

The victim was released from the hospital around midnight and returned to prison.

According to the press release, as a result of the investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s Office, two convicted inmates, Zachary Blackwood, 21, of South Wayne, WI, and Demandre Andrew Tyshann Frazier, 28, of La Crosse, WI. He was officially arrested on Thursday, October 28, 2024.
