The floods killed at least 158 ​​people, with 155 confirmed dead in the eastern Valencia region alone.

However, an unknown number of people are still missing and more victims may be found.

“Unfortunately, there are dead people in some vehicles,” said Spanish Transport Minister Oscar Puente.

While the most suffering was experienced in areas near the city of Valencia, the storms also unleashed their fury on large areas along the southern and eastern coasts of the Iberian peninsula.
