SEC rooting guide for Texas Longhorns during bye week

Texas Longhorns They enter the last bye week of the season with a score of 3-1 in SEC play. Ahead of them are the Georgia Bulldogs, currently 4-1, and the Texas A&M Aggies, the only undefeated team remaining in conference play at 5-0.

And the Texas heartthrobs are the Tennessee Volunteers and LSU Tigers, who are both 3-1 but have now lost scoring margin tiebreakers to the Longhorns.

So what needs to happen for Texas to have the best chance of being one of the bottom two in the SEC in Atlanta for the SEC Championship? We’ll be looking at the perfect scenario for Texas fans this bye week.

At the beginning of the season, Ole Miss was considered a significant threat to make the SEC championship game. They’re now looking at 2-2 on the outside after already losing to Kentucky and LSU. Arkansas At 3-2.

Either scenario could work for Texas in this game, but Texas favors Arkansas to win this game, not just to get to the SEC championship, but for their resume. Arkansas is a future contender and is looking to potentially move into the rankings with a win against Ole Miss.

Texas has very few strong wins, and I’m not saying this is a guarantee that Texas will beat Arkansas on November 16, but it does give the Longhorns a chance to get another quality victory on a short schedule to find them.

Arkansas has little to no chance of finishing SEC play 6-2 with games against Ole Miss, Texas and a road game against Missouri. But Ole Miss is also supposed to play Georgia in Oxford later this season. Both teams will have a hard time catching Texas in the rankings, but Arkansas winning here would greatly help Texas’ resumes and could take both Ole Miss and Arkansas out of SEC title contention.

It’s a lot easier for Texas fans. Seeing it as Vanderbilt’s best win right now will help Vanderbilt win as much as possible. This game has little to no significance for Texas in terms of capturing the SEC title, where Vandy is 2-2 and Auburn is 1-4. With Vanderbilt having Tennessee and a trip to Death Valley still remaining against LSU, Texas won’t have any concerns about a win against Auburn.

It’s clear Texas would like to see the Gators get a victory here. Georgia is ranked as a 14.5-point favorite to win, and ESPN puts the win probability at 79.8%. If Georgia loses, Texas will inherit the No. 2 spot in the SEC standings. Florida He is 2-2 and plays Georgia as well as Texas, LSU and Ole Miss.

It would be great to see them knock off Georgia since Florida doesn’t have a chance. But Georgia still has Tennessee and Ole Miss on its schedule, which means they’ll have another chance to lose if they don’t make it on Saturday.

Lone Star Showdown The Nov. 30 game at Kyle Field could have major implications on who plays in the SEC championship. But for now, Texas needs A&M to lose as much as possible. South Carolina has a tough environment and blew out Oklahoma and nearly beat Alabama on the road in their last two games. South Carolina being at 2-3 would really help them get a victory over Texas A&M and ease the concerns of Texas fans.

If Texas A&M loses this game they will move to 5-1 and will likely be 6-1 when they play Texas. If the Longhorns also go 6-1 (meaning they stay undefeated the rest of the season), whoever wins has a good chance of going to Atlanta.

To everyone’s surprise, Tennessee is a -17.5 favorite to beat the Wildcats on Saturday. Kentucky Winning would of course be the best scenario for Texas. But if Tennessee moves to 4-1 after this game and earns the third seed against the Longhorns, fear not. Tennessee still has to play Georgia in Athens, but that’s about it.

This will be Kentucky’s second road victory against a top-ten opponent, however, which should raise some alarms in Texas, who will play them in the DKR later this year. If Kentucky wins, that will almost put Tennessee out of the picture. They need to excel throughout the rest of the season to have a chance.

At this point, Texas needs to perform theoretically perfectly to achieve the championship. The remaining schedule is a home game against Florida, an away game against Arkansas, a home game against Kentucky, and then an away game against Texas A&M.

Only time will tell who will come out on top in the SEC, but Texas has nothing to do but watch games play out this weekend. But in the meantime, they can follow this “rooting guide” to see what the best scenario will be for them heading into next week.
