The lawsuit in NJ states that the youth football coach punched the father because his son was participating in a practice drill.

A youth football coach punched a player’s parent during an argument over the young athlete having trouble running a sprint during preseason practice, according to a lawsuit filed in Cape May County Superior Court.

The complaint accuses the coach of repeatedly hitting the teen’s father after he was approached by the parent who was criticizing the kid during an August practice. The father suffered a concussion and other injuries, according to the lawsuit, which seeks damages and monetary relief.

The coach declined to comment when reached by NJ Advance Media. The youth soccer association confirmed that New Jersey State Police are investigating the altercation. State police did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the investigation.
