AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – A 15-year-old is dead after a shooting in Richmond County Wednesday evening, according to authorities.

The Richmond County Coroner’s Office notified us on Thursday that Devayn Grissam of Augusta was pronounced dead at 7:07 p.m.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office said they responded to the 2300 block of Helsinki Drive in reference to a shooting that involved a person falling to the ground at 6:23 p.m.

When deputies arrived, they found Grissam had been shot at least once.

He was taken by EMS to Wellstar/MCG, where he died from his injuries, according to Richmond County Prosecutor Mark Bowen.

While he was at the hospital, another person arrived with at least one gunshot wound, deputies said. They are unsure whether the two shooting victims were involved in the same shooting or a separate incident.

Deputies said investigators were on the scene at 9 p.m. and had no additional information at that time.

Also Thursday, Richmond County lawmakers said: We are investigating the suspicious death of a 59-year-old man on Lumpkin Road.
