F1 news: Shock change in market as new team joins Colapinto race

Alpine is reportedly the final bidder for Williams’ Franco Colapinto, whose Williams F1 2024 rookie is at the top of the sport’s most wanted list.

Colapinto emerged as a surprise target for many teams following Williams’ debut at Monza, but with no race seats available at Grove in F1 2025, the Argentinian is looking for his next step in the sport.

Colapinto was a name that wasn’t on many radars at the start of the year, but his surprise call-up and subsequent impressive performances have now made him one of the hottest names in F1.

Williams are still under contract with him but other teams are also shopping around as that’s the most reserve driver positions they can offer.

Red Bull has already been touted as a potential next destination for the 21-year-old German broadcaster. Automobile Motor and Sports It is reported that Alpine may be interested in getting Colapinto’s signature.

Executive consultant Flavio Briatore is allegedly lining up Colapinto for the F1 2026 seat, but it remains to be seen whether he wants to leave Williams and sit on the sidelines.

While Sauber is the only team with a vacant seat for next year, Red Bull could undertake some restructuring to make room for Colapinto in the VCARB youth team.

Colapinto said he was focused on this season but said his managers were working behind the scenes to secure his future.

“My managers are doing a great job and I really trust them,” he said. Sky F1.

“But my job is to drive fast enough and steer, and their job is to find me a seat, so they’re doing a great job of that.”

“I’m not really focusing on what’s going on. I don’t want to put too much energy into it. I know there are no seats left right now and there’s nowhere for me to go.”
