A dispersal order is in place around Bagot Street and Staniforth Street near Aston University. West Midlands Police police are patrolling the area.

The Section 35 order was introduced following calls from members of the public expressing concerns about groups of people throwing fireworks at each other and neighboring buildings.

Fireworks were also thrown at police officers.

West Midlands Fire Brigade and Ambulance Service teams are also present.

A spokesman for WMP said: “We will take action against anyone involved in public order offenses or any crime reported to us.”
