GAA Football All-Stars 2024: All-Ireland champions Armagh win six trophies

All-Ireland champions Armagh have won six Football All-Star awards, including Player of the Year contender Barry McCambridge, while Ulster champions Donegal and Tyrone are also represented in the 2024 squad.

All-Ireland defeating finalists Galway won five awards while Craig Lennon became Louth’s first All-Star since Paddy Keenan in 2010 following a string of eye-catching performances from the defeated Leinster finalists.

Despite Tyrone’s disappointing season, which ended with an All-Ireland preliminary quarter-final defeat by Roscommon, Red Hands goalkeeper Niall Morgan earned his second All-Star, the country’s first after Sam Maguire’s triumph in 2021 won.

Morgan, the only previous All-Star player among this year’s winners, edged out fellow Ulster goalkeepers Blaine Hughes (Armagh) and Shaun Patton (Donegal).

There are two awards for Ulster champions Donegal; Peadar Mogan and Oisin Gallen were recognized for their performances in Jim McGuinness’ first season back as manager.

For the first time since 2003, neither Dublin nor Kerry are represented in the All-Star XV. Four players have been nominated for the Dubs, who are All-Ireland champions in 2023: Sean Bugler, Brian Fenton, Con O’Callaghan and Cormac Costello.

All four candidates are missing out, including Kerry’s 2022 and 2023 Player of the Year David Clifford and his brother Paudie.

It is only the second time David Clifford has missed out as a senior Kerry player, having also been overlooked in 2020.
