If you swell regularly or experience pain when you swell, be sure to talk to your medical professional. That said, here’s how to manage occasional bloating.

UK-based NHS (National Health Service) Surgeon Dr Karan Rajan continues to share health tips on Instagram. He shared a post about British woman Sophie Richards, who was recently diagnosed with endometriosis. He documents his health journey on his Instagram page, The Endo Spectrum.

Based on one of his videos on bloating, Dr. Rajan shared how you can get rid of bloating fast. While the best option is to find out what’s causing the bloating in the first place, he said some ‘natural ingredients’ may help reduce bloating symptoms.

A swollen belly can be uncomfortable, aggravating, and sometimes even painful. Fortunately, there are some ways to manage this naturally.

In the clip in question, Sophie talked about day 40 of ‘the most extreme anti-inflammatory diet she’s ever been on for her endometriosis’: “For the last 39 days, I had no bloating or endometriosis symptoms until day 40.” Dr. Drawing attention to his video, Rajan said, “If you have bloating problems, try these four natural ingredients.”

Peppermint oil relieves gas and bloating symptoms

Then she listed them all: “First of all, peppermint oil. It contains menthol, which has antispasmodic properties; it relaxes the smooth muscles of your intestines, relieving symptoms of gas, bloating, and abdominal cramps. It is especially effective in patients with IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) or those suffering from IBS-like symptoms.”

Ginger is especially effective against bloating

His second choice? Ginger. “Ginger accelerates gastric emptying symptoms and stimulates digestive enzymes. This reduces bloating by ensuring that food does not remain in the stomach for too long. It is especially effective for bloating-related dysfunctions, dyspepsia, or indigestion.”

Psyllium husk powders are more effective

Next up is psyllium husk (Isabgol). “I love this. Psyllium is a soluble fiber that absorbs water from the intestines. It forms a gel that promotes regular emptying and reduces bloating. It is very effective in individuals with constipation-type IBS. You can take it in pill and powder form, but I personally find powders to be more effective.” he said.

Probiotics reduce bloating by balancing intestinal flora

Dr Rajan added: “Finally, there is good evidence that specific strains of probiotics, such as bifidobacterium infantis and others, can reduce bloating by modulating and balancing your gut flora, essentially reducing gas production at the source, reducing bacterial farts. These strains can be found in yoghurt and live cultures.” containing kefir.” In conclusion, he said: “These do not cure the underlying condition causing the bloating but may help reduce symptoms.”

If you bloat regularly and/or feel pain when you swell, be sure to talk to your doctor.
