2 Rockford teens charged after police say they found a loaded AR-15

ROCKFORD, Illinois (WIFR) – Two teenagers are facing charges after police found a loaded AR-15 during a traffic stop.

A 17-year-old is charged with two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, no valid FOID, hindering identification and outstanding warrants.

A 15-year-old boy is charged with two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, no valid FOID and resisting arrest.

Rockford police on Main St. just after 8:30 a.m. and Belmont Ave., and the 15-year-old driver got out of the car and ran away.

Police said the man was taken into custody a short time later and found a loaded AR-15 pistol.

According to the police, the other person in the vehicle was a 17-year-old young man who was also detained.
