Group representing Kilkenny communities raises wind farm development concerns with Taoiseach

A national organization representing a range of community groups Kilkenny The company, which has concerns about various aspects of wind farm development, recently held a meeting with Taoiseach Simon Harris.

During the 30-minute debate, the Communities and Environment Protection Alliance (CEPA) presented an example of the need for regulation to protect public health, citing 2018 WHO guidelines that recommend a maximum wind turbine noise level of 37 dB.

In addition, CEPA called on the Taoiseach’s department to review wind energy policy in light of advances in the science of wind turbine noise, including amplitude modulation, infrasound and low-frequency noise.

The group also stated that ‘the Health Service Executive was not informed of wind energy planning applications classified as strategic infrastructure developments’.

Expert presentations were provided by an acoustician, various engineers and environmental academics.

The meeting ended with the Taoiseach committing to continue relations with CEPA.
