The state submitted medical reports of doctors at Ballari Central Jail, where Thoogudeepa was lodged, and the head of the neurology department of a government hospital in Ballari.

However, Justice Shetty asked Nagesh why Mysuru was chosen for the surgery.

“Why Mysuru? Let a doctor in Bengaluru examine you and make an assessment of the urgency and duration of the surgery,” Justice Shetty said, adding: “The duration of interim bail is limited and we need to understand how long you will stay in hospital.”
