GOLDSBORO, NC (WITN) – A suspect was arrested today following the murder of a man in Goldsboro on Saturday, police said.

Goldsboro police say they learned from ECU Health Medical Center that 26-year-old Daquan Simms died at the hospital Sunday.

Police said Simms was found with multiple gunshot wounds after ShotSpotter sent an alert to the 800 block of Newsome Street.

Today, police said Brian Blount was arrested around 10:40 a.m. on Wood Peck Road in Goldsboro.

The 38-year-old Goldsboro man was charged with one count of murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.

Blount was denied bail and is currently in the Wayne County Jail.
