UPDATE – Police say the teenager has been pronounced dead.

FIRST NEWS RELEASE IS BELOW –

Officers were dispatched to Bernard Park (1105 Bernard Ave.) at 6:28 p.m. Monday for a report of three teenagers consuming alcoholic beverages.

Police teams came to the scene and found the 3 children in the park.

During the investigation, a male suspect fled on foot and a police officer followed him.

During the foot chase, a male suspect fired a firearm at the police officer who was following him.

The pursuing police responded to the young suspect with fire.

Police teams arriving at the scene immediately provided first aid.

The juvenile suspect was transported to Blanchard Valley Hospital and then to a hospital in the Toledo area. He was in critical but stable condition.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation has been contacted and is investigating.
