‘Disney Dreamlight Valley’ Sets ‘Storybook Vale’ Paid Expansion as Video Game Shutters Gold Edition

“Disney Dreamlight Valley” revealed its roadmap through Summer 2025 at a developer showcase on Tuesday, revealing the Gameloft-made video game’s second paid expansion as well as upcoming free game updates.

During the event, Disney and Gameloft also announced that the Gold Edition of “Disney Dreamlight Valley” (a bundle offering the base game “A Rift in Time” paid expansion and bonus in-game items) would be discontinued to coincide with 2017. The second paid expansion, “The Storybook Vale”, will be released on November 20.

“The Storybook Vale” expansion, which requires the base game to play (currently priced at $39.99), will be priced at $29.99 and $49.99 for the “magic edition,” which offers exclusive in-game items. The update will consist of two parts, both included in the initial price: “Welcome to the Rift”, releasing on November 20, and “Unwritten Realms”, releasing in Summer 2025.

The first release will introduce the game’s Disney and Pixar characters Flynn Rider from “Tangled,” Merida from “Brave” and Hades from “Hercules,” and the villain Maleficent from “Sleeping Beauty” will also feature more prominently in the game. Part 2. In the second part, Gameloft developers hint that Princess Aurora, aka Sleeping Beauty, will participate.

According to the “Welcome to the Valley” story description, “Embark on a legendary adventure to help the Lorekeeper restore a distant land while taking on Merida, Flynn, and Hades along the way.” And for the “The Unwritten Realms” portion of “The Storybook Vale” expansion: “Step into a strange world beneath Storybook Vale with the help of Maleficent and solve the mystery of the missing princess.”

While “The Storybook Vale” paid expansion only has two chapters, and the first paid expansion, “A Rift in Time” (released last December), has three chapters, Gameloft developers said at Tuesday’s reveal that those two chapters will include more. The story compares to the split episodes of “A Rift in Time” that aired throughout last year.

In “The Storybook Vale” expansion, players will have access to a new networking tool that will help them capture new creature characters called “Snippets” to bring the Disney and Pixar magic back to the pages of the Lorekeeper’s book. The updated game will include three new biomes in Storybook Vale: The Bind (inspired by the dark academy), Ever After (a magic mushroom fairy forest), and Mytopia (a Greco-Roman mythology episode). Each of these new biomes will feature new animals that players can befriend and turn into companions: dragons, owls, and mini winged horses.

On the free update side, “Disney Dreamlight Valley” is launching “Sew Delightful” on December 4, which will also include the holiday-themed “Frost & Fairies Star Path” featuring “The Nightmare Before Christmas” character Sally. In this update, the game will now include the ability to use 16 turning points, as well as “floating islands” that act as “extensions” of four of the existing Valley biomes to offer “ample space to create” and host villagers. The show also teased stories and characters coming in more “Disney Dreamlight Valley” free updates throughout the next year: “Aladdin” for early 2025, “Alice in Wonderland” for spring, and the mystery of Skull Rock finally being solved (next summer With a hint of a “Peter Pan” connection.
