If you didn’t know Loomis before he sang the National Anthem, you probably know him now.

If you’re still wondering who he is and what this is about, buckle up because the singer delivered one of the most memorable renditions of the song you’ll ever hear.

And not in a good way.

Loomis was chosen to sing the National Anthem before the Free and Equal Elections Presidential debate, which was broadcast live on CSPAN last week.

He sounded a little nervous, but he was soldering on until he got to “And the red glow of rockets.”

That’s when his eyes closed, he quickly said: “I (expletive) I (expletive). Can I come back please?”

That’s when he was told he was alive.

Loomis started to sign again but stopped and said, “I was so nervous,” before continuing.

He received applause as he left the stage.

Now he’s calling out his performance on Instagram.

“Hi guys, I’m Loomis,” he says in a video he shared there. “I just wanted to come here and touch on the craziness that happened last night regarding the National Anthem. And first of all I would like to apologize to the Free and Equal political team for this mishap. And I wanted to apologize from the bottom of my heart.

“I’m so sorry,” he continued. “I didn’t want to disrupt the National Anthem and I wanted to thank you for giving me a chance and believing in me. I’m sorry you messed this up and please forgive me. You know, this is something I’ve been afraid of since I was little. “I was always afraid I would fail, then I did it and the world saw it.”

In a post he shared alongside the video, he asked people “not to use this incident to think about the artist I am and the artist I strive to be.”

“I am so grateful for this opportunity and all the love and support I have received,” she added. “I take this as a lesson learned and can’t wait to come back even stronger.”
