Houston woman charged with murder after husband shot to death

HOUSTONA. Houston The mother is behind bars, accused of shooting and killing her husband after many of his children witnessed the shooting. Gunfire erupted in North Houston.

Flowers and balloons mark the place where Miguel Zamora Martinez spent his last moments alive. According to court records, Marisol Solis Zamora’s children heard two gunshots, saw her standing over the body, and one of the children took the pink gun from her.

FOX 26 spoke with one of the teenage sons who told me they were not only grieving, but also trying to figure out how to pay the bills after their mother opened fire and killed her husband, according to investigators.

Appearing before a judge at a probable cause hearing, Zamora, a mother of four, listened as evidence against her was explained after detectives said Zamora shot and killed her husband at their north Houston home near Lone Oak Road around 11 p.m. Saturday. Little York and Aldine Westfield.

“He initially claimed self-defense. Later when questioned by law enforcement, he told a different story and tried to claim it was an accident. There were children in the home at the time of the shooting,” just a few of the details were revealed at trial.

A court-appointed lawyer spoke on Zamora’s behalf.

“It is alleged that no one saw exactly what happened. The three children, all in their teens, did not claim to have heard any argument. Ms Zimora allegedly told police there was no argument and that she was there to help him as he drunkenly tried to stumble from the car to the house.” The possibility that it was an accident is supported by one of the teenage boys who pointed the gun. Ms. Zamora has no criminal history, has never been arrested before, and is 42 years old, the lawyer told the judge. “to kill someone suddenly, without any reason,” he said.

Neighbors say they fear for their safety, so they don’t want their identities disclosed.

“I just heard a loud noise. Then we started hearing screams and crying. It was scary because we saw someone lying on the ground. He was lying next to the garbage cans. It was very traumatic,” says one resident.

Zamora, a Houston native, has been working as an optician for eight years, and the court-appointed attorney said the 42-year-old is certified in billing coding, doing HVAC work, is certified as a Locksmith and is ready to begin training as a paralegal in December.

Zamora, who has no criminal history, is behind bars on $100,000 bail, charged with murder for the shooting death of her husband.
