The focus of the lapses is on Wales with fixtures in Chepstow and Bangor.

Several well-related breeds line up on the bumper, including a half-brother to Hennessy Gold Cup winner Cloth Hat from Unleash the Beast (4.20). The powerful stables of Dan Skelton, Paul Nicholls, David Pipe, Fergal O’Brien, Joe Tizzard, Philip Hobbs and Harry Fry are represented.

The event in Bangor will also be informative; with plenty of new winners and a few clever types to reappear seasonally. In the evening there are races at the Flat at Catterick and also at Newcastle.

The big autumn jumping meetings are approaching and entries for the Paddy Power Gold Cup, Greatwood Hurdle and Coral Gold Cup will be announced.

Wednesday

Nottingham stages a good Straight card in the afternoon, including Estuary Queen (1.05) – won by future Derby hero Adayar in 2020 – and the Listed Robin Hood Stakes (2.08).

The choice of jumping action is at Newton Abbot (where there is a 2m5½f handicap hurdle3.30) looks interesting. Several recent entries have won plenty of awards, including Major Fortune, What A Johnny and El Granjero.

Fakenham also stage a skip card and more Flat action comes from Kempton and Dundalk in the evening.

The day is important for Brits to get away from the tracks as Chancellor Rachel Reeves delivers Labour’s first budget in 14 years.

Thursday

The week starts to get busier from here on out.

Announcements will be made for Saturday’s races including the Grade 2 bet365 Hurdle at Wetherby and the Grade 2 Charlie Hall Chase and the lucrative Ascot card headlined by Sodexo Live! Gold Cup Handicap Tracking.

Last season’s Betfair and County Hurdle runner-up, L’Eau Du Sud, can overcome hurdles and make her debut in the handicap chase (2.05) in Stratford.

Northern Bound, trained by Ben Pauling at Newcastle, could top the weights in the 2m4f handicap chase (2.45).

Thurles holds the jumping meet of the day in Ireland.

Flat racing in Britain comes from Bath in the afternoon and Southwell and Chelmsford in the evening.

Friday

A number of Flat trainers will be hoping to introduce their own Bosra Shams in the Listed race named after the flying mare (1.43) in Newmarket. The onetime racer William Haggas’ trained Nardra is attracting a lot of attention based on his maiden win at Haydock.

There is an action listed at Wetherby with the Wensleydale Juvenile Hurdle (2.25) On the first day of the Charlie Hall meeting. Double Cheltenham Festival winner Langer Dan won the race in 2019 and two years later, the next Grade 1 winner, Porticello, also won the race.

This year’s possible candidates include Liam Swagger, East India Dock and three horses owned by Opec’s Gredley Family. Denzil could represent the Skeltons, while Fergal O’Brien could lift the lid on Roi De Baviere. Adrian Keatley can also run the dual winner Model Approach.

Smart hurdler West Balboa may take on the 10-foot novice chase (1.15), Midnight River, Colonel Harry and Outlaw Peter can run in the 2m3½f handicap chase (3.00).

Exciting mares Diva Luna and Let It Rain (12.55) The mares’ first hurdle is entered at Uttoxeter. Personal Ambition and Kalif Du Berlais may clash in 2-metre novice chase (2.35).

Evening races are held in Newcastle, but the main focus will be Del Mar, where the Breeders’ Cup will begin. Big Mojo and Aesterius in the Juvenile Turf Sprint (9.45), while Lake Victoria will bid to improve its bets for next year’s Classics in the Juvenile Fillies Turf (11.05).

Children’s Lawn (12.25) It will be a clash of the great British and Irish stables, with New Century, Al Qudra, Aomori City, Henri Matisse and The Waco Kid facing off against the local brigade.

Saturday

The Breeders’ Cup will be held on Saturday evening at City Of Troy’s Classic (9.41) is the focal point of a great evening of racing. Can he finish his career with victory on new ground against America’s elite?

Other stars in the show include Bradsell, Believe and Big Evs in the Turf Sprint (7.41), star of the three-year-old dirt mare Thorpedo Anna in Distaff (8.21), Rebel’s Romance and Emily Upjohn in the Turf (9.01) and Important Speech, Porta Fortuna and Ramatuelle on the Mile (11.45).

There’s world-class jumping action at Charlie Hall, the bet365 Hurdle at Wetherby and the Grade 1 Ladbrokes Champion Chase at Down Royal (2.40), will also include last year’s Cheltenham Gold Cup runner-up Gerri Colombe and Envoi Allen.

There’s also jumping action at Ayr as we follow star performances on an excellent card at Ascot.

Newmarket (the two races on the List) and Southwell (evening) host meetings on the British Flat.

Sunday

It’s time to think about an important weekend full of sporting events.

Falcon Eight can claim back-to-back wins in the Group 3 Loughbrown Stakes (2.27) at the Curragh.
