Billionaires focus on presidential campaigns | Texas: Trouble

2024 presidential campaign has had its share of star power in recent weeks.

Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, supports former president Donald Trump, while Shark Tank star and Dallas Mavericks minority owner Mark Cuban supports Kamala Harris.

Both attended the final rally for the candidates they support.

“I think this election is the most important election of our lifetime,” Musk said at a recent rally.

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, 18, speaks at a town hall event hosted by America PAC in support of former U.S. President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center on October 20 in Oaks, Pennsylvania .

Cuban, the minority owner of the Dallas Mavericks, talked to FOX 4’s Steven Dial about why he decided to get more involved in the race.

“I think this election is very important. I think we all feel that way. And I think Kamala Harris is a much better candidate, and I want to see her try to help her win as much as I can,” Cuban said.

Cuban and Musk have consistently disagreed on X, the presidential race and other issues.

Cuban says he’s surprised that some in the tech industry are supporting Trump.

“I don’t think Trump really understands anything about technology. I don’t think he’s made any effort to learn. Kamala Harris, on the other hand, really does. I literally had a conversation with her the other day about machine learning, and Cuban said, “We’re using AI for more efficient government and lower costs. “Maybe that’s why the tech brothers think they can manipulate Donald because he doesn’t understand technology at all,” he said.

Musk donated $70 million to America PAC.

The political action committee hosted a town hall with Musk in Pittsburgh on October 20.

“The level of toxic hatred that should be tolerated on the left. They claim to be tolerant, but they’re still incredibly intolerant and spewing hate,” Musk said at the event. “Being involved in politics is not something I want to do. I have no desire to die. But the risks are so high that I feel I have no choice but to do it.”

Musk is also doling out $1 million every day to people who register to vote in battleground states.

LA CROSSE, WISCONSIN – OCTOBER 17: Businessman and television personality Mark Cuban speaks at a rally for Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris on October 17, 2024 in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Harris continues his daily campaigns in BA

Cuban believes the economy is a winning issue for Harris.

“I’m not a Democrat. I don’t think the campaign is getting out there enough and there’s not enough talking about it. You know, they’re making too much chatter. Just like they should be used every minute. The Economy We’re seeing a record stock market. We’re seeing record wages, record GDP, record growth. I’m making this a really great bargain.” There are a lot of elements that go into it, but I also understand that not everyone agrees, it’s a little harder to communicate with these people,” Cuban said. “I joined this because I think it’s better for the middle class. I think it’s better for small and medium-sized businesses.”

Miriam Adelson, the Mavericks’ new majority owner, is a Trump megadonor.

The Las Vegas casino mogul recently donated $95 million to a pro-Trump super PAC.

Cuban ignored the potential conflict between the two.

“Do you know how everyone you work with votes? Do you know how the bosses of your company vote? You know, this is America. People can choose their candidates and vote for whoever they want, and that’s what makes it happen.” incredible,” Cuban said. “I think Kamala Harris is by far the best candidate. And, you know, I’ve talked to my partners about this and they have no problem. They’re picking who they want, but they’re voting for Kamala Harris.” It’s great for Texas. I think it’s great for Americans.”

Cuban says ultimately the race will depend on voter turnout.

“Who gets people out to vote? You know, the Trump campaign basically handed it over to Elon Musk. They couldn’t even do a good job. They needed Elon to come and save them,” Cuban said. “The Harris campaign has a great out-the-vote campaign and get out the vote team and they’re working really hard together. And hopefully even in Texas they’ll get a lot more people to come out and vote and win this election.”
