NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – Valley Christian Church in North Platte hosted its first harvest festival on Saturday.

The church held a give-or-treat event last year and decided to take it a step further by hosting a large event this year.

The harvest festival included games, prizes and candy for kids, a free chili buffet with hot dogs, live music, candy and a cake walk.

This is about bringing the community together, getting to know each other, and connecting with faith.

“We were wondering what we could do because we know there are tons of other events these days and most people don’t eat at a lot of those events, so we thought why not offer dinner,” Pastor Joel Miller said.

Valley Christian Church will also host carols and other Christmas events in the future.
