SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Scott County police are investigating a fatal crash in Scott County on Sunday in which a vehicle stopped in the middle of I-75 and was struck by a vehicle. .

According to police, around 4 a.m. Sunday, deputies and the Scott County Sheriff’s Office were called to the area of ​​I-75 near mile marker 139 in reference to a fatal crash involving a pedestrian.

When police arrived, authorities reported a woman was found dead in the middle lane of I-75. In the preliminary investigation carried out by the police, it was determined that the woman was hit by a vehicle while she was standing in the middle of the road.

The sheriff’s office noted that the driver of the vehicle “cooperated with the investigation” and that police do not believe drugs or alcohol were a contributing factor in the incident.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing, conducted by the Georgetown Scott County Collision Investigation unit.
