    South Florida man arrested in fatal shooting in failed drug deal

    Clearly attempted robbery During a drug deal in front of Greenacres shopping centre. This month led to a shooting that left one man dead and another facing murder charges.

    Dylan Slone, 21, of Greenacres, faces a second-degree murder charge after Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested him this week in the Oct. 11 shooting of 31-year-old Antonio Wynn.

    During a hearing at the Palm Beach County Jail on Thursday, October 24, District Judge Donald Hafele ordered that Slone be held without bail and have no contact with the victim’s family. In addition to the murder charge, Slone also faces charges of possession of marijuana with intent to sell while armed and possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell while armed.

    The attorney representing Slone at the hearing declined a request for comment. A witness who spoke with sheriff’s investigators said Slone spoke to him shortly after the fatal shooting and described being robbed by two men, with one of the men punching him and taking half of the marijuana he was selling along with some e-cigarette cartridges.

    According to the sheriff’s arrest report, Slone and Wynn agreed to meet that evening to finalize a transaction of marijuana and e-cigarette cartridges valued at $2,500. The two men agreed to meet in the parking lot of a restaurant near Lantana and Jog roads.

    Another witness told investigators that he picked up Wynn and two other men that evening and that the group drove around buying and distributing narcotics. The witness said Wynn used a cell phone to contact another person and then directed him to go to the Lantana and Jog area.

    The man said Wynn and another passenger got out of his black Scion and got into a nearby Mercedes-Benz when they arrived at the meeting place. He said he heard a gunshot a short time later and then saw Wynn bleeding profusely as he ran toward the Scion. The man took Wynn to JFK Medical Center’s main campus in Atlantis.

    Doctors there determined that a bullet had struck the femoral artery and rated Wynn in critical condition. He was transported to Delray Medical Center, where he died two days later. The Scion driver told investigators that he threw away Wynn’s phone as he left JFK Medical Center out of fear of getting in trouble.

    Concerned that they had not heard from him, Wynn’s mother and sisters used a tracking feature to search his cell phone. They found him near Lantana Road and Congress Avenue and turned him over to sheriff’s investigators.

    According to the arrest report, detectives reviewed text communications and learned Wynn had been communicating with a device belonging to Slone. Investigators also tracked the Mercedes through license plate recognition activations and learned it was registered to Slone.

    Tactical agents began surveillance of Slone’s home, and detectives obtained permission to search the home. Agents found Slone in a nearby shed packaging marijuana for sale and distribution, according to the arrest report. The report did not say whether Slone made any statements to investigators.
