Marvel’s Spider-Man makes a sudden reference to iconic manga scene

Marvel’s Spider-Man may be a bit weak because its final fight took a page from the book of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure.

American comics and manga have long been intertwined, and numerous crossovers have occurred, especially in the last few decades. The last one sees one of the world’s greatest heroes MCU references another iconic series.

In Miles Morales: Spider-Man #25, Miles Morales, who takes over the role of Spider-Man from Peter Parker, faces off against the Vulture. There’s a large panel of them facing each other during the fight, using similar stances and angles to Jotaro and Dio’s encounter in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Starlight Crusaders.

This moment marked a major shift for the then-growing franchise. That season was the season where Stands (superpower versions) were introduced, and this battle showed how Jojo would evolve.

It has since become a fan-favorite scene that pays homage to pop culture because it is so iconic and recognizable. The people at Marvel clearly feel the same way, and I think Miles and Peter would appreciate that, too.

Fans are also enjoying the transition. “Adorable. The creativity and dynamic poses really add a unique touch to Miles’ world,” said one reader, while another shared a meme: “This is so over the top.”

Some stated that Vulture did something Jujutsu Kaisen pose at the same time. Artist Federico Vicenini knows his stuff when it comes to major Japanese franchises and knows how to get people talking in different parts of the comics medium. I hope this piques curiosity in both Spidey and Jojo.
