NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A grieving mother wants you to remember her 16-year-old son, Justin Robinson, who was shot and killed in June.

we told you How two groups of teenagers had a fight in the park outside the Madison Community Center back then.

Police said they believe Justin and his friend were walking away from an argument when the shots were fired. They say that’s when Justin’s friend started fighting back. Justin was shot in the back and died later in hospital.

“It’s like a life you lost. It’s like I’m a different person now,” Justin’s mother, Shontel Jenkins, said. he said. “Instead of a birthday party, we planned a funeral.”

Days away from turning 17, Justin was full of life. Shontel, who is about to be a senior in high school, says he wants to join the military to help people.

“I called Justin my joy,” she smiled. “You know, when you need a muse you get down, when you feel down… you never get down and laugh when she’s around.”

Months later, Justin’s mother worries that his case has been overlooked.

“I feel like everyone looks at him as just another black man who is a victim of gun violence,” he said.

While police say they are still seeking answers, Shontel implores people who were there to speak up.

“Say anything, anything,” he said. “The closure will be the beginning of a period of healing for me.”

Metro Police said the investigation is ongoing. They are looking for three people they believe are in the park and can answer questions.

In the last few years, it seems like a lot more people are trying to decorate their homes. Forrest Sanders had the chance to visit several communities in the central part of the state to check out some of the Halloween decorations.
