The Los Angeles Lakers are up 2-0 for the first time in 13 years and so far they look like a formidable team.

The Lakers have looked great through two games this season and will look to improve to 3-0 against their division rivals, the Sacramento Kings, on Saturday.

With back-to-back games to be played on Saturday, the first game of the season for LA, it is common for stars to fall behind in today’s NBA. As we learned earlier this week, 76ers superstar Joel Embiid won’t be playing back-to-backs and many other stars will follow suit, but that won’t be the case for Lakers superstar LeBron James.

James will likely play on Saturday, and after Friday’s win he announced how many games he plans to schedule in his unprecedented 22nd season.

James: “I plan to play every match this season” in question. “We’ll see what happens if I don’t.”

James is at his best and although he hasn’t looked that way through two games, make no mistake about it. We have seen what he can do when the risk is highest and how he can carry a heavy workload when necessary.

But it’s not good for James to waste his energy on the game in October. The Lakers have bigger goals than starting the season 2-0, and no one knows that better than James.

The Lakers have plenty on their roster to carry the load throughout the regular season, thanks to their other superstar, Anthony Davis. Davis has made a statement so far, and if he can keep it up, he could be one of the favorites for the MVP.

James is having one of his healthier seasons in a long time. He played in 71 games last season, which was the most appearances of any player for the Cavaliers in the 2017-18 season. He averaged 25.7 points, 8.3 assists and 7.3 rebounds per game, while also averaging 35.3 minutes per game.

The start of the 2024-25 season hasn’t been anything special. He’s averaging 18.5 points and shooting 48% from the field and 33% from three. But don’t expect this to be James’ new norm just yet.

James is still keeping his feet on the ground, but we’ll probably see a classic from him sooner than later.

The Lakers believe James is still at his peak, and from what we saw of him last year and last summer, they have no reason to think he isn’t a top-10 player in the league. 40 years old.
