An unidentified woman was crushed to death in a hit-and-run by a tricycle driver in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Saturday.

According to an eyewitness account, the incident took place on Unity Road in the early hours of Saturday, before the start of the monthly three-hour environmental clean-up exercise.

The exercise begins on the last Saturday of the month from 8 am to 10 pm.

The victim was rushed to a private hospital in Sabo-Oke, an area of ​​Ilorin metropolis, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.

Efforts to reach the spokespersons of the police and Federal Road Safety Corps in Ilorin on Saturday to ascertain their reaction to the tragic incident were abortive.
