Springfield Italian restaurant on Commercial Street announces it is closing after six years

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – A restaurant in the vibrant historic Commercial Street neighborhood has announced it is closing its doors after six years.

Cafe Basilico announced on Facebook Saturday morning that it was officially closing.

“We will miss all our loyal travelers and foodies. “We would like to thank everyone who has honored our establishment and created lifelong connections. Words cannot express our gratitude,” the restaurant said.

Basilico said they are excited about the future and new opportunities and that the restaurant space is now available for lease. Cafe Basilico sat between Ink Ink Tattoo and a vacant store near the corner of Commercial and Robberson Avenue.

The restaurant owners say they would welcome anyone to reach out to them with any business ideas to fill the currently vacant restaurant.

According to the restaurant’s previous Facebook posts, Cafe Basilico had to close at certain times due to staff shortages and staff changes.
