A federal jury ruled Friday that Masimo smartwatches infringe Apple patents, but Apple isn’t getting a big payday.

The hearing stemmed from a countersuit in Apple’s ongoing legal battle with Masimo, which began alleging that Masimo’s patents were infringed by the Apple Watch’s pulse oximeter feature, which allows the watch to measure oxygen levels in owners’ blood. Apple disabled this feature on the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2, and the feature is also missing on the following models: new Series 10. These limitations apply only in the United States; Apple is appealing the import ban on models with controversial features.
