Firefighters came to the rescue after a curious dog named Scruff got stuck under a concrete ledge.

They spent the better part of an hour trying to free Scruff, who was trapped under an overhang in Sible Hedingham, Essex, on Friday.

News about Scruff’s adventure somehow came out fire department social media post.

A senior official said firefighters did a “fantastic job”.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service He said firefighters from Halstead were called to Scruff’s aid.

“Crews were called to Queen Street in Sible Hedingham at 5.57pm to reports that a curious dog was trapped under a concrete ledge,” the fire service said in a statement.

“Firefighters worked to save the dog until 18:48 BST.”

Group manager Andy Message added: “Firefighters did a fantastic job to save Scruff quickly.

“They were returned safely to their owners.”
