Suddenly, after 14 years, Sega is delisting 60 classic games, destroying one of the only legal sources of ROMs on the internet

Sega suddenly announced that 60 classic games from its back catalog were about to be removed from Steam. It’s not like there’ll be no way to play, say, Streets of Rage once these versions of the games are retired, but the delistings are notable for a few reasons; You can find legally purchasable classic game ROMs everywhere on the internet.

The full list of removed games is available from Sega official support siteThis also confirms that these games will be removed on December 6th at 11:59pm PT. The list also includes the Sega Genesis Classics collection, which includes a total of 60 games on Steam, as well as several Dreamcast ports. We’re talking things like Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, and Phantasy Star IV; They are all true classics of the 16-bit era.
