NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested 22-year-old Demarcus Womack in connection with the fatal shooting of his pregnant girlfriend, Aieron Thomas.

Womack faces charges of Second Degree Murder, Second Degree Murder (Feticide) and Obstruction of Justice.

Authorities responded to a call just before 7 a.m. Friday reporting a 19-year-old female unresponsive at a residence on Bankston Road in Amite.

When they arrived at the scene, deputies found Thomas, who was 13 weeks pregnant, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

During the investigation, deputies quickly identified Thomas’ live-in boyfriend, Womack, as the suspect.

Once located, Womack reportedly admitted to the shooting and attempted to conceal evidence of the crime. He was later arrested and booked on the charges.

TPSO Sheriff Gerald Sticker praised the Criminal Investigations team for their quick work on the case and expressed hope that their efforts will bring some closure to Thomas’ family as they begin to recover from the tragedy.
