The leather industry’s latest move towards sustainability

The L1 system has undergone rigorous testing that demonstrates not only its ability to retain the flexibility, durability and luster of natural leather, but also its resistance to eight types of common stains, including coffee and wine. Evolved by Nature is proud of its contributions to eight of the 17 UN, along with Leaping Bunny and Leather Working Group certifications, as well as Level 1 certification from the NGO ZDHC, which works to reduce the use of hazardous chemicals in textiles, leather and footwear. Sustainable Development Goals. As designers become more attuned to consumer demand for more sustainable design, garments created using Evolved by Nature’s L1 coating are already finding fame on runways and red carpets.

What is Active Silk?

Implementing a cruelty-free process, Activated Silk The technology is based on proteins naturally derived from upcycled mulberry silkworm cocoons, which would otherwise be discarded after harvest. More broadly, the technology aims to replace fossil fuel-derived petrochemical supply chains with non-toxic natural peptides. The carbon-reducing alternative offers a solution to create technically advanced formulas for skincare ingredients, including bioactive peptides, a PFAS-free skin coating system, and a rechargeable moisture management coating for textiles.

Changing the power dynamic

One of Evolved by Nature’s new collaborators Authentic Thai Leather (ATL)A new consortium of leading leather manufacturers in Thailand. Thailand has a history of textile craftsmanship that includes providing high-quality leather to the global supply chain at more cost-effective prices. But these suppliers are under constant pressure to meet new sustainability requirements, and much of the sustainability agenda is set by policymakers in the West. These instructions are then passed on to manufacturers in the supply chain who are expected to comply, often without much influence over these decisions.
