The restaurant recently opened for dinner Monday through Friday and offers entrees like ham or turkey steak, shrimp or mahi platters, or smothered chicken.

It didn’t take us long to order due to the aforementioned hunger and our expectation that every little thing would soon be good for our tummies. “I woke up this morning. I smiled at the rising sun…” I muttered about my lunch date ordering from the breakfast menu.

The bird’s nest ($11.95) was a hash potato mixture topped with perfectly grilled asparagus spears, eggs — scrambled rather than poached — with a generous dollop of homemade hollandaise sauce and a sprinkle of sweet, crispy apple bacon bits.

I ordered a melt ($13.95) stuffed with tuna salad, grilled onions, and Swiss cheese on grilled rye bread. It was a hearty and soul-satisfying sandwich. Here’s a money-saving tip: Never go to Publix hungry. Instead, first stop by the Three Little Birds Café next door and order this, or maybe a huevos rancheros or mojo BBQ pork sandwich.
