GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) — We now know more about a recent assault investigation involving a Grand Traverse County woman charged with attempted murder.

UpNorthLive’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request reveals more details about the investigation.

Jennifer Vargas, 42, He is being tried for assault with intent to murder and first-degree child abuse.

The alleged incident occurred on November 8 at the suspect’s home.

Vargas is accused of attacking his daughter for more than an hour, strangling her, hitting her head on the floor and throwing her down the stairs, according to documents.

After being thrown down the stairs, the victim told police she pretended to be unconscious and ran into the bedroom when Vargas turned around.

When the victim tried to open the window to escape, he told investigators his mother broke down the door, pinned him to the bed and tried to strangle him, saying he would be ‘sacrifice’.

The victim lost consciousness, according to documents.

Police said the victim had visible bite marks and a small cut on his hand from a struggle with the knife.

Both charges could mean a life sentence if Vargas is convicted.
