Perth man Joshua Schuetz fights for life after horror crash in Bali

A promising Futsal star is fighting for his life in a Bali hospital after a horrific quad bike accident.

Joshua Schuetz, 8, from Perth, was on holiday with his family ahead of the football tournament he was supposed to compete in this weekend.

The family were on a quad bike tour when Joshua was seriously injured in the ‘unimaginable accident’ on Wednesday.

He was a passenger on a bicycle driven by his older brother when it rolled over.

Joshua was run over by the bike and had to be rescued by his brother.

He suffered a fractured skull and brain hemorrhage and remained in a coma in intensive care.

His parents had to pay $20,000 on the spot before Joshua was transferred to the intensive care unit at another hospital to be treated by a neurosurgeon.

Family friend Bernice Ariasa fundraiser The family covered medical expenses in Bali and helped finance a medevac flight to fly Joshua home.

‘They had to pay another $10,000 deposit for the blood transfusion,’ he wrote.

‘So far the bill is $60,000 but it goes up with every hour he is there in the hospital.

‘(Joshua) has had surgery and the cost of this is unknown, he is in a stable condition but in a coma.

A team of Australian doctors and nurses set out to transport Joshua to Perth Children’s Hospital.

More than $65,000 was raised.

‘Hundreds of prayers were recited for our sweet, fun, lively Joshy. ‘We just want him to be safe and heal,’ the page concluded.

Cockburn Wolves Futsal Club shared a post on social media urging their community to come together to support one of their ‘beloved little champions undergoing neurosurgery in Bali’.

“Wolves is an inclusive club and we urge all of our members, regardless of faith background, to pray for healing and make room in your hearts for Joshy Schuetz and his family,” a post on Facebook said.
