Search in Palm Coast uncovers 2 suspected homemade bombs, deputy says

Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies and the SWAT team also found 28 pounds of marijuana, $1,173 and three firearms during a search of 34 Burning Ember Lane in Palm Coast.

Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies and SWAT team members found what appeared to be two homemade explosives during a drug-related search warrant in Palm Coast on Tuesday, prompting them to call the bomb squad.

The search at 34 Burning Ember Lane also led to the arrest of 51-year-old Andrew Bouvier, who was charged with trafficking in marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, manufacture or deliver, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the sheriff’s office.

Bouvier was being held in the Flagler County jail on $13,000 bail.

Deputies went to St. Louis after finding two homemade explosive devices. Johns County Sheriff’s Office called the Bomb Squad. Bomb disposal teams secured the devices. The devices will be analyzed by the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The investigation into the devices is ongoing and additional charges are expected, the sheriff’s office said.

During the search of the home, deputies also seized 28 pounds of marijuana, $1,173 in cash and three firearms.

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly credited St. Louis for the bomb squad’s quick response. He thanked the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.

“We will always operate with an abundance of caution to keep our team and community safe,” Staly said.
