The former treasurer of the Durhamville Fire Department has been arrested for allegedly stealing $92,000 from the department over seven years. Authorities say 62-year-old Kimberly Simchik used the money for personal pleasures such as plane tickets, spa treatments, casino visits and even movie channel subscriptions.

The theft was discovered when a fire marshal discovered that his bank account had been closed due to a negative balance.

An investigation by State Police and Controller Thomas P. DiNapoli’s office revealed misuse of funds. Simchik faces charges of grand theft and corrupting the government and is scheduled to appear in Verona County court on Nov. 26. Officials confirmed his resignation from the ministry.
