Our 19-year-old daughter suddenly disappeared while out at night with her friend; Then the police raided our house twice ‘to look for a body’

Police officers raided a family’s home multiple times during the search for the missing teenager’s body before it was found in a lake, The Sun has revealed.

Reagan BrownThe 19-year-old disappeared after meeting a friend at Leazes Park in Newcastle on the evening of May 6.

They were sitting on a bench when Reagan went behind the bushes around 9:30 p.m., but they never returned.

His remains were found two days later.

Reagan’s parents, Frank and Teena Brown, criticized officers for a lack of communication during the incident and told how they had “begged” Northumbria Police for updates.

Two people were arrested as police investigations continue, but police said they do not believe the death is suspicious.

Officers searched their home in Hexham twice in the hours after the teenager was reported missing.

Teena claimed: “There were even drones following us.”

Frank said police raided the house on May 7 and 8, adding: “They were actually here when they got the message that they had pulled a body out of the lake.”

‘THEY WERE LOOKING FOR A BODY’

The couple said they were told to stay home in case Reagan suddenly survived.

Referring to the raids, Teena said: “They were looking for a body… I’m honest.

“They were looking for a letter to see if it was a suicide. They were looking at bushes, trash cans, etc.

“I actually said, ‘Oh my god, you’re looking for a body.’ They said, ‘We have to do it.’ And I understand… they suspect the family first.”

The distraught parents, who also share children Shaina, 25, and Tyler, 18, are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything and believe their daughter was attacked.

Referring to the police, Frank said: “They’re trying to tell us it was an accident.”

But once a cop came to the house and Frank says he said: “Come on, don’t you think there’s something dangerous going on here?”

He claims the officer “looked at us” and then said, “Yes, we see, but our hands are tied.”

Frank added: “What does this mean? “Your hands are tied, you are the police.”

Teena said: “I think there was a foul. There has to be someone who knows something. It was a nice, pleasant night. They say he drowned. At 6 feet tall, the water only comes up to his chest. He can swim.

“There is no current in this lake. “There’s no big fish that could eat it or pull it to the bottom, as far as I know, that’s crazy.”

The couple said they asked officers if they could access the CCTV to review for themselves and even offered to reconstruct it to “bring back people’s memories”.

“They said they would do it, but nothing happened,” Teena said.

They even claim that police confirmed a body had been found while searching for Reagan on Facebook, without even notifying them.

Frank said: “They told us not to put anything on social media or stir up the press, but we found out on social media that it was Reagan’s body…

“The liaison officer went back to the house because they were angry. They said such a thing would never happen. “It’s starting to feel a little personal.”

Teena also said that none of Reagan’s belongings, including the necklace, were returned to them.

“They lost their stuff,” he explained. “They say they found her now, including her necklace, but we didn’t see anything.”

Frank added: “He came to the funeral home with a shroud and the funeral director said that was unheard of, too.”

The couple even had to contend with a troll who apparently knew Reagan making derogatory remarks on social media.

Frank said: “He started putting pictures of smiling faces all over Reagan’s coffin and started saying how shameful and disgraceful it was…

“I finally had a long conversation with him about it and he was just a really horrible person.”

He reported the man to the police. He said: “They did nothing about it. “I thought it was a crime these days.”

“We feel like there has to be someone out there who knows something, has heard something, or heard a little bit of something,” Teena said.

“I wish we had not listened to the police and objected from the beginning. That’s my biggest regret.”

Describing the night Reagan disappeared, Teena said she had been at work all day before meeting her friend.

“The next thing we knew, we got a call from our friend and he said he couldn’t find Reagan and he was lost, that was it,” he explained.

“The police got a call. I think it was half past 10 on Monday night. Reagan had gone to the bathroom at maybe half past nine and his friend had waited an hour.”

They do know that there is very little CCTV of the park, but that the park would still be quite bright when Reagan was there.

Frank said: “The top of his head was completely blue, you couldn’t have missed it.”

Teena said: “It was such a beautiful night, you can’t just go into shallow water and drown. He must have been struggling. How has no one heard of this? Homeless people live in that park. Has everyone been asked?

Teena said: “I feel like they (the police) are trying to close the case, but we are debating how you can do that when we have so many unanswered questions. “I truly believe witnesses will come forward.”

After hearing that Reagan had disappeared, he said it was “completely surreal” because it was completely out of character for him not to inform them of what he had done.

The couple denied suicide because their daughter was working at Tesco to save money to go to Australia next year and was planning to buy a horse.

Teena said: “I don’t want people to think she was just a young girl drinking in the park… She was such a lovely girl and had her whole life ahead of her.”

A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Reagan Brown following his tragic death in May 2024.

“We are conducting a comprehensive investigation into Reagan’s death and that investigation is ongoing.

“As part of our investigations, two men in their 20s were arrested and have now been released pending investigation.

“One was arrested on suspicion of being involved in the supply of Class B drugs and the second on suspicion of making threats to kill.”

Police did not want to comment further on the family’s allegations.
