The Mason County Sheriff’s Office was vandalized and burglarized Thursday night after a suspect broke in and caused ‘significant property damage.’

Around 6:45 p.m., the sheriff’s office reported seeing a man throwing rocks at the building, breaking two windows, including one in the records office.

The suspect fled to Brewer Park after deputies arrived. Deputies said the suspect “used a large stick while refusing to comply with verbal commands.” After a short pause, deputies arrested the suspect without further incident.

Deputies found broken glass and two large rocks, and witnesses confirmed the man in custody was the suspect.

The suspect was booked into the Mason County Jail on charges of first-degree malicious mischief and third-degree burglary.
