Hyannis woman charged with OUI after car crashes into police cruiser

A 20-year-old unlicensed Hyannis woman is facing charges that include driving under the influence after a car allegedly crashed into a police cruiser early Saturday morning, Barnstable police said.

Gabriela Prodelik was charged with operating under the influence of intoxicating liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating an unlicensed motor vehicle and speeding, Barnstable police said in a statement.

Police said officers were dispatched to a home on Lincoln Road in Hyannis in response to a “silent 911 call” around 1 a.m. While investigating the call, a sedan allegedly driven by Prodelik collided with an unoccupied police vehicle parked on the street.

Prodelik and a 24-year-old passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash and were taken to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, police said.

Prodelik was booked on four hospital charges and is scheduled to be summoned to Barnstable District Court for a hearing, police said. It was unclear Saturday whether he had retained an attorney to represent him.

The investigation into the accident continues.
