Toni Browne was hospitalized and died while packing for a holiday in Gran Canaria. The 34-year-old musician, of Harpfield Road, Trent Vale, in Stoke-on-Trent, had metastatic breast cancer that spread to her spine, contributing to her death at the Royal Stoke University Hospital in January 2023.

However, family members claim Toni was visited at home by Douglas Macmillan Hospice staff on January 13, 2023, and they reassured Toni and her mother, Julie Browne, that she was not nearing the end of her life. Just two days later paramedics were called and Toni was taken to hospital. critical care The resuscitation unit at Royal Stoke.

He was diagnosed with respiratory sepsis and pneumonia, had a heart attack, and died the same day. An inquest this week heard Royal Stoke staff suspected Toni may have accidentally overdosed on a prescription painkiller. This led to the administration of four doses of Naloxone over 20 minutes to rule out the suspected opioid overdose.

However, Julie disputes the idea that her daughter overdosed on medication and therefore does not need Naloxone. Trent Live Stoke. The coroner ruled Toni died of natural causes, and mother Julie plans to appeal that decision.

The investigation also revealed that Toni was at Royal Stoke from 28 December 2022 until 6 January 2023 and then returned to the Hartshill complex on 15 January 2023.

Coroner Li Hammond-Naylor said: “Toni was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital by paramedics suffering from respiratory distress and was only reacting to pain. “Toni was admitted to A&E with protruding pupils and little or no effect. He was treated with Naloxone. Toni also had pneumonia and respiratory failure. At 3.45pm he went into cardiac arrest, was resuscitated, but his breathing was irregular and he subsequently passed away.

“It is likely that her death resulted from bilateral pleural effusion (accumulation of fluid between the lung and chest wall) contributed to pneumonia with a history of metastatic breast cancer. Her death will be recorded as one of natural causes.”
