Pedestrian killed in crash while crossing Melville Road on Friday night

Suffolk County police say a man died after being struck by a motorist while crossing the street on Melville Road Friday night.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., a northbound 2003 Toyota sedan was traveling in the left lane on Broadhollow Road between Spagnoli and Ruland roads when the male driver crashed into an eastbound crosswalk.

The unidentified pedestrian was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

While the driver of the Toyota was not injured, the vehicle was seized for security control. Anyone with information about this crash is asked to call Team Two at 631-854-8252.
