New partnership aims to pave the way for students to early childhood education

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO. (KFVS) – A new partnership in Cape Girardeau aims to provide students with a gateway into the field of early childhood education.

This agreement is between Cape Girardeau CTC, which will provide students with the training portion of their apprenticeship, and Cape Public Schools, which will provide the on-the-job portion.

After completing 2,000 hours of apprenticeship training, students will receive a certificate in Early Childhood Education from the Department of Labor.

We spoke to Taylor Muench, the first young apprentice to join, and he said the hands-on experience will help students in the long run.

“It helped me because I had to do hands-on work, so not only do I do all the book work in school, but I also do the practical work in the classroom. “I work with children, help teachers and have fun with children,” he said.

This is a youth apprenticeship program registered with the Department of Labor in Early Childhood Education for students ages 16-24.
