According to authorities, the fox bit the family member while trying to separate the fox and the dog.

Gloucester Township’s animal control officer picked up the fox and sent it to the state’s Public Health and Environmental Laboratory in Trenton for rabies testing, officials said.

The Camden County Health Department was notified today that the fox was confirmed to be rabid, officials said.

The person bitten by the fox has already begun receiving post-exposure prophylaxis and the dog has received a booster shot and will be quarantined and monitored for four months, officials said.
