Overlooking France (on a very clear day), the main attraction is the Harbor Arm, which sits alongside converted train tracks and sells handmade goods and amazing food.

The colorful main street full of shops and restaurants should not be missed; my favorites are Burrito Buoy for great margaritas and The Folkestone Bookshop for some novels.

Since there is a stony beach on the beach, you will need to take your beach shoes with you; But after a few drinks at the much-loved pilot bar, you won’t care so much.

The small sandy bay retains its chocolate-box charm, dotted with weathered fishing boats and backed by breezy cafes and airy art galleries with seaside-inspired works hanging on the walls.

For impeccable views of a wild sea and home-cooked food, head to the Rock Pool Cafe, perched on a steep cliff, and order a ‘build-your-own’ hot chocolate.

There are some impressive coastal walks but be warned it can be hilly.
