Tribeca Citizen | Japanese restaurant coming to Murray Street

sushi chef Yukihiro Takeda and his wife and business partner, Satomi Tanaka, will soon open a eponymous restaurant in Murray, and I assume they’ll also close their current location on the Upper West Side, since they’re always there. Or maybe this will be his second joint.

Community Board 1’s Licensing Committee approved its liquor license for 6 Murray (once Manhattan Proper) from 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday, through noon Sunday. The applicants described the restaurant as Japanese fine dining and omakase, and if I heard correctly it will have two seatings for up to 10 people each. (In their application, it was said that there would be a table for 12 people and a bar for eight people in the 1500 square meter area.)

His restaurant, which opened in Amsterdam in 2019, was noted by Eater and blogs I love the Upper West Sideboth with glowing reviews. Legend of Sushi he said it was flying under the radar but not for long, describing it as “a determined focus on seasonality, particularly from Japan’s Ishikawa and Toyama Prefectures, home to Kanazawa, Toyama Bay and, more importantly, Toyama, where Satomi is from.” .” Below is their video.

An omakase course uptown is $280, which is the low end (!) for Tribeca omakase, if you can believe it.
