Jets’ Aaron Rodgers Has Surprising Reaction to Steelers’ Mike Williams Trolling Him

Following the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Week 10 win against the Washington Commanders, Pittsburgh’s new signing Mike Williams had a tough win. A subtle jab at New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Williams, who caught the go-ahead score in the win, wrote, “Thank you #WholeLotta #WeBack #RedLine” along with a photo of the touchdown reception.

The “red line” hashtag was an apparent reference to a quote from Rodgers in his postgame press conference following an October loss to the Buffalo Bills, in which the star QB openly criticized the veteran receiver.

“There are two vertical lines, Allen (Jets receiver Allan Lazard) down the seam and Mike down the red line,” Rodgers said after Monday night’s loss to the Buffalo Bills. “That’s why I never look at the red line. When I lift my eyes up there, Mike is running a ‘breaker.’ We must be below the red line.”

The red line is a line some teams draw on the practice field about five feet from the sideline to help receivers find proper positioning on vertical routes. Williams scored the go-ahead touchdown for the Steelers on one such route.

Rodgers was asked Wednesday about Williams trolling him, and the Jets QB had a good laugh about it after saying he didn’t see the post.

“No problem,” Rodgers said with a laugh. “I have no reaction. I love Mike. I’m happy for Mike.”

Williams denied that the post was a blow to Rodgers during Wednesday’s game. GoJo and Golic.

“No! It wasn’t like that at all! I made a name for myself on the red line,” Williams said. “That’s what I’m good at… Playing at the red line. That’s what people know me for. That’s what my game is about. Check the tape, check anything, you’ll see a lot of catches at the red line.”

“It was just a header that was needed at the time. That’s where the ball was caught and we won.”
