(CNN)–An antitrust lawsuit aimed at splitting up social media giant Meta is going to trial.

This comes after a federal judge partially denied a summary judgment request from Facebook’s parent company on Wednesday, November 14.

The Federal Trade Commission alleges Meta overpaid Instagram in 2012 and WhatsApp in 2014 to stifle competition.

In its April statement regarding its motion for summary judgment, Meta argued that it faced competition from apps such as TikTok, ‘X’ and Youtube.
