BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Sabers coach Lindy Ruff eliminated leading scorer Tage Thompson and starting goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen Thursday night at Buffalo’s St. From his home game against the St. Louis Blues.

Both remain on the day-to-day roster and are eligible to return on Saturday when the Sabers travel to play the Philadelphia Flyers.

Thompson, whose 11 goals entering the day were outside the NHL lead, had a lower-body injury in one game. 7-5 loss to Montreal On Monday. Luukkonen is dealing with what Ruff calls a “minor” ailment.

A day after being released by Anaheim, Devon Levi is expected to play against the Blues with James Reimer serving as a backup.
